Thanks for visiting! Countdown to the wedding - October 14, 2007Engagement StoryHere's my engagement story I sent out in a newsletter, in case your wondering about some of the things in itClick here to see more pics of our "story" and engagement pics Sorry this is long, but I know some of you want to know the details, so please bear with me...YES, he finally asked me, and I said yes(through a torrent of happy tears, of course). We just spent a wonderful week together(for my birthday) doing local things, and he surprised me with the ring. I had told many of you I knew he'd ask me this week but didn't know when. October 21st was my birthday, and I knew it wouldn't be on that day because it would be too obvious, since he'd said many times it'd be when I least expected it. SO, he told me Sunday morning, the 22nd, he had to go into work because an alarm was going off, and he really played the part well. I really had no clue. I was a little dissapointed because it was a day we were spending together, plus we were missing church, but I figured he didn't have a choice because he's now the manager of the service dept of Honda(he just got promoted. God is providing!!), so he had to go. Little did I know he was at my house(I was at my sisters), laying out 129 roses in my bedroom(because the florist didn't have 500, that was all she had! The nerve!! LOL Just kidding! 129 is enough!!!!) Anyway, he put them all over my room, then on my desk, next to two vases packed with roses, he put rose petals and four cards with the ring behind the last card. You'll see in the pictures I'm sending. He came to get me at my sister's house, took me on a clothes shopping spree, then told me he wanted to go to my house and see my nephew(they're still staying with us until they get their bathroom finished at their apt in Queens). So I figured why not. We had also stopped at a jewelry store where he bought me a GORGEOUS opal, topaz ring and told me, "Well, I figured since you're not getting your real ring for a while, you can at least have that one." Yeah, Right. SO, we went to my house, and I had to put my new clothes in my bedroom. The door was shut, so when I opened it, my mouth dropped when I saw the roses. He had to nudge me in because I was in shock. He told me I had to read the cards in order, because they told a story of how we met up until he wanted to spend the rest of his life with me. They would each tell me which card to read next. By the second card, I was crying. By the third one I was bawling. When I got to the last and final card, I was hysterical. At the end of the card it said, "Will you marry me?" It was so sweet. Through tears, I said, "Yes!" The cards he spent time picking out so they would go in order of when we met, how we'd been through so much, and then up until he wanted to spend the rest of his life with me. It was incredible. I wish I had a great picture of the ring, but it's so hard to get a good one of it. I'm enclosing 3 of them, but it just does it no justice. I designed it myself, the diamond in the middle, with two flowers on either side and every other stone a blue topaz(my favorite).
Also, there are three side stones, the middle one a topaz, going down the band. His uncle made the ring for us and did an incredible job. It's just gorgeous. Beyond anything I could have expected. I'm also enclosing pictures of the rose setup he did in my room and the engagement pictures my sister Madeline took of us. She did a great job, and the background was gorgeous. We went to a local place where the pond and bridges were and they came out great. We were freezing, especially near the water, but it was worth it. We're looking to get married next October 7, if all works out. I'll keep you posted! We both love the fall, and that's one of our favorite months. We're really looking forward to getting married and spending the rest of our lives together. Also, many of you know we're waiting until we're married, and for those wondering(you know who you are!!), yes by the grace of God we've made it this far! Just one more year!! haha That will also be something very special for us. One more thing, then I'm done...He just told me something today that really touched me. He said he started thinking how we've been dating for three years. He couldn't believe it's been that long. He started to get teary eyed thinking all we've been through, the struggles and the wonderful blessings. He said he got so overwhelmed by how much he loves me, that he almost started crying. He said it just came over him, and thought, "Wow, I just love this woman so much and I can't wait to spend the rest of my life with her." I know, sappy, but yeah, I know you're all thinking, "Awww, how sweet!" haha That's the kind of man I"m marrying, and I can't wait! He truly is one in a million. He's the most gentle, caring man I've ever known. He extremely thoughtful, generous, and just so loving. He takes care of me when I'm sick, he's affectionate, and takes notice of everything important. I am so blessed. I can't wait to have you all there at our wedding to be part of that special day. Thanks for letting me share and see you soon!! Enjoy the pictures! Let me know if it works or you have any problems.
