Mark Lowry on Broadway

By: Elisa Sangiorgio

The crowd poured in and sat in their rows,
as the closer it got, the excitement did grow.
A voice was then heard, at the stage we all stared,

"Attention, attention, we've found Bill Gaither's hair."

The crowd roared with laughter, and knew who it was,
no mistaking that voice, or the buzz that it caused.
The curtain then parted, well, kicked out of the way,
"Hey, I'm Mark Lowry...here on Broadway!"

Mark looked so handsome, he made quite a fuss,
White shirt, white tie, what a nice looking tux!
His hair nicely styled, his eyes all aglow,
As Mark Lowry put it, "I'm the star of this show!"

We all screamed and clapped, then the concert began,
All the guests were there, just as he'd planned.
But first we saw a video serenade,
letting us know we can't "Rain on his parade."

Broadway tunes and Broadway dancers,

his mama was there, what are the chances?
They sang a duet, what a beautiful voice,

Having mama there, Mark made the right choice. :)

Mark sang "Bein' Happy" with the vocal band,
It was hard sitting down, we all wanted to stand!

The McRea girls were there, with smiles on their faces,
and beautiful voices, they are going places!!

Sandi Patty came out, Mark loves her the best,
They sang a duet called, "Beauty and the Pest."

Then David came out, and they formed a trio,

But Sandi needed water, and Mark went to go.

While he was gone, Sandi said, "Maestro!"
"A Whole New World", they sang as a duo.
What beautiful voices, right from the start,

"Uh oh", they both said, "Here comes Mark."

You could see disappointment all over Mark's face,
"Mark, we'll do the trio, some other time, some other place."
So they went backstage, and Mark looked so down.

But then Anthony Burger tore the house down!!

But first, a new story, Mark went on to tell.
Piper's taught a good lesson, he learned very well.
Piper soon learned that it's not good to steal,
and when he set things right, how much better he did feel.

Anthony's solo was fast, as quick as can be.

Mark made little comments, we laughed hysterically.
But since it was Mark's show, Mark had to play.
He didn't care what we had to say.

He said, "Took me years to teach him how to do that."
"That's why I think we should form a duet!"
An old piano was brought out just for Anthony,
Mark used the good one, but hit only three keys!

Then the serious part, a patriotic medley,
We saluted those who die(d) for our country.

Then the vocal band sang "Let Freedom Ring!"
Let me tell you, this group can SING!!!!

Then Mark shared about a time, so long ago,

then sang his song, "Mary, Did You Know?"
How his voice rang out, sends shivers up my spine.
Then it was over, and I knew it was time.

Mark said a prayer, the night had been fun
Then Mark said, "That's it, the concert is done.
Thank you for coming." But you know what was best?
How I knew this night, by God, was blessed.

If you look in Mark's eyes, you all can see.

Jesus shines inside Mark Lowry.
God has used Mark in so many ways,
And I'm glad He brought Mark here to Broadway!!
