My weekend with Scott and Donna Davis 6-00
Hey, all!! I know many of you are anxious to hear about my weekend!! If I could use one word to sum it up, I think WONDERFUL would be it! I have known Scott and Donna for about two years now, and meeting them in person for the first time was so special. They made me feel VERY welcome and at home. Donna was SO sweet and Scott was SO down to earth and VERY funny. :) What more can you expect from two of your dearest friends? Well, we were going to meet for dinner Thursday night. Scott calls up and says, "We can't make it." I said, "Ha ha!" He said, "No, I'm serious. Something came up." I said, "You're very funny!" He said, "No, I mean it." I said, "Ok." He said, "I'm just kidding."
Remember, people, Scott is a comedian! LOL He did that to me a lot all weekend...tell me things with such a serious face, then start laughing. LOL I can never figure out how people do that. I would never be able to keep a straight face! Well, we had a great time of fellowship. Just chatted about everything. I have to say Donna has a great sense of humor too. She was very funny and just so nice.
The next day Scott and Donna picked me up at the hotel and took me site seeing. I got to eat at the famous Varsity!!! I got my grease quotient for the month! As Mark would say, "Just give me a bottle of Crisco and a straw!" It was good, but VERY greasy!! :) They're famous for their chilly dogs, but I decided on a cheeseburger. Scott made me get the greasy onion rings though. hee hee. It was a very big place too, much bigger than I thought it would be. People behind the counter would scream out the orders and the place was PACKED! They had about 10-15 registers and each register had at least ten people behind it. I got to see the wall where they have pictures of famous people who have eaten there too. It was fun. :)
Then, we toured the Coca-Cola museum which was VERY interesting. I got to see how Coke first got started and how they make it, bottle it, etc. I really had a lot of fun. Then, I got to try different sodas from all around the world. Some were NASTY!!! Scott made me try some, claiming they were good. I forgot to keep in mind that Scott is a COMEDIAN! :) Needless to say, they were not so good. This one from Italy, in particular, was some bitter flavor (that was part of the name "bitter something") and it was the grossest thing I ever tasted. Then I was told to try this honey-lemon one and Scott said it tasted like a cough drop. Yum Yuck. :) I hate cough drops to begin with. It was very interesting, though, to see all the sodas from around the globe.
After that, they took me to this place called "The Underground". It was one of the most interesting places I've ever been. It's like a shopping mall underground. See, buildings were built over this old brick street, and shopping stores were put in this underground place, and you can even see the street names. It was awesome. I bought a few things there too. :)
Then we met my sister for dinner (she was down there for business, so after work we'd meet her) and had another great time of fellowship. I can't tell you how much fun I had with them. I needed to get away for a few days, and this was so perfect. Scott asked when I was coming back, LOL, so maybe I'll be going there again soon. :) I know I will be welcomed!!
OH, and I also had grits for the first time! They were pretty good too. :)
My ONLY complaint, and this is coming from a New Yorker, is the South moves MUCH slower!!! :) When I move down there, it's going to take me a long time to get used to that!! hee hee.
Well, thank you all for your prayers for safety. Everything went pretty smoothly and I had a WONDERFUL time!!! Thank you, Scott and Donna for everything!!! Thank you all for letting me share!! God bless and love ya, Elisa
