Mark Lowry with special guests Point of Grace 9-99
We drove eight hours, just to see Mark for one, and to find out Point of Grace was the feature!! Am I disappointed? Not one single bit. Here's a funny thing that happened. Since it was this huge fair, they had a dog show. Well, Mark, later on had joked around about people going to the dog show while he was doing his routine, but before the concert even started, I was at the show. Before that, Point of Grace was practicing and I got to watch from afar. Well, we left the dog show, and I'm standing outside with my mother and her friends, and I hear "Mary, Did You Know?" I looked at my mother, "Mark is practicing!!!!!!!!!" And took off like a chicken without a head. I hear his last few notes, and then he went backstage. Figures. Well, the concert did eventually start. He was fantastic. I must admit it was probably one of his best comedy routines I've ever seen. He did a lot of new stuff, some old, and even a duet with Sandi Patti that was great! They sang their song "Some Other Time, Some Other Place". She looked great too. Her voice is really incredible. She looked like she dyed her hair a little bit darker, and her eyes were green, like Marks. Oh, wait, it WAS mark! LOL Yes, Mark Allen Lowry put a wig on and did Sandi's part. Man, was that FUNNY! At one point he put the wig on the microphone stand and put the microphone up to it. What a riot! Then his hand flew when they both belted out a note and he knocked over the stand. We cracked up. You know, I think a lot of people were really there just to see Mark. I heard people behind me saying that. Not a lot of people knew Point of Grace was going to be there. Mark said it was nice to have them as a closing act for him. Sure, he was being silly, but I took it as serious.
He was the real show. He made everything worthwhile. Point of Grace was great, but Mark, well, he's just special. Yes, I did get to meet him.
Actually, while POG was singing, Mark was off in the corner signing autographs. Not many people knew he was there, so the line was very short. I went up to him and he looked at me, looked down, and did a double take. A smile spread across his face and he said, "Hey! What are you doin here? How long did you guys drive this time?" I said, "I said I came just to see you! and we drove four hours." I think he just loves to know I'd drive anywhere to see him...cause he asked me again a few minutes later! :) I told him he knows I'd go anywhere to see him. He smiled. Well, I handed him my book that I wanted him to sign. It's a poetry book I'm making for a friend of mind for their birthday. I made a nice cover, put all my poetry on all different kinds of paper, and had Mark sign it. He actually looked through it, "What is this?" I told him. "Wow, she is gonna love this." I was actually able to talk to him for about four minutes without feeling rushed. He took time to listen to me, take a picture, and then hear me embarrass myself. Yes, I, Elisa Sangiorgio, told Mark Lowry that I loved him. I was about to walk away, and I just looked him right in the eye, and boom, it came out. Completely involuntary. one of those things that comes out and you can't believe you said it. I just said, "I love you, Mark," squeezed his shoulder and walked away ready to kick myself. But you know what? I do. I love him for who he is, what he is, and how he is. So, I'm almost glad I said it. I'm sure many others say it to him, so I don't feel so silly. I guess I just wanted him to know what he's brought into my life and saying that is one way to express it.
I don't just say it to anyone either. I say it to people I really mean it to.
My family, and close friends. And I say it all the time to them, cause you never know if you'll get another chance. So, I don't regret anything I said to Mark. He's a special person and he might as well know it! :) It truly was a wonderful concert, and i can't wait for the next one. Thanks for listening to my babblings. Love you all so much, Elisa. PS So you all know, I will be in West Virginia tomorrow visiting my friend Jeanie Hutton for the first time. It's a surprise and she has no idea I'm coming. I will be there until Sunday, Oct. 3. You can still send mail, and I will read it when I get back. I'll miss you all and talk to ya soon!! I'll send out my story tomorrow so I don't have protest letters when I get back! :) Love you all!!!
