5. About my poetry

This weeks inspiration:

God has shown us many times in His word the power of prayer. It is one of our greatest weapons to defeat Satan when he tries to

attack us. He has promised to never leave us nor forsake us, so when we fully trust Him, He will work things out and get us through. God wants to have communion and fellowship with us. I find myself many times, during my day, talking to God, asking Him things, asking for wisdom, or just talking to a good Friend. He is someone I can trust and rely on to always be there for me no matter where I am or what I am doing. No matter what your need, He has promised to always get you through it. Philippians 4:6, "Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God." We must also remember to praise and thank Him even in the midst of hard circumstances. My mother made a good point this morning. She was talking about the Israelites in the desert and wondered, and this is pure speculation, "what if they had praised God for His blessings and miracles, instead of constantly complaining? They were never satisfied and no matter what God did for them, there was always something to complain about. If they had praised and thanked Him, how overjoyed He would have felt and perhaps would have taken them to the promised land a lot sooner." Think about that. What if we spent less time complaining and more time thanking and praising God for His goodness to us? He would be overjoyed and perhaps might do things more quickly than we'd expect. So make your requests known unto

God, but while you do, also praise Him and thank Him for the good things He has done in your life. Here's a good way to remember what to do...

ASAP - Always Say a Prayer

When life's got you feeling down,

and your load is hard to bear,

when you're feeling all alone

always say a prayer...

when your heart's in trouble,

and you feel that no one cares,

get down upon your knees

and always say a prayer.

Chorus:

Always say a prayer,

in the midst of your confusion,

when you feel that there's no answer

or no resolution...

but always say a prayer

even when you're getting blessed,

not only when you are in need,

or just when you're in distress.

God has promised in His word,

That He will always be there,

when you need a friend, remember

always say a prayer.

So many times in our own lives,

We don't take time to pray.

We simply think that God won't care,

What we might have to say.

But He has told us many times,

That if we just believe,

What we ask, if it's His will,

He's promised we'll receive.

ON THE LIGHTER SIDE -

For those who already have children past this age, this is hilarious.

For those who have children this age, this is not funny.

For those who have children nearing this age, this is a warning.

For those who have not yet had children, this is birth control.

The following came from an anonymous mother in Austin, Texas.

THINGS I'VE LEARNED FROM MY CHILDREN...(HONEST AND NO KIDDING):

1. A king size waterbed holds enough water to fill a 2000 sq. foot house 4 inches deep.

2. If you spray hair spray on dust bunnies and run over them with roller blades, they can ignite.

3. A 3 year olds voice is louder than 200 adults in a crowded restaurant.

4. If you hook a dog leash over a ceiling fan, the motor is not strong enough to rotate a 42 pound boy wearing Batman underwear and a

superman cape. It is strong enough, however, if tied to a paint can, to spread paint on all four walls of a 20 by 20 foot room.

5. You should not throw baseballs up when the ceiling fan is on.  When using the ceiling fan as a bat, you have to throw the ball up a few

times before you get a hit. A ceiling fan can hit a baseball a long way.

6. The glass in windows (even double pane) doesn't stop a baseball hit by a ceiling fan.

7. When you hear the toilet flush and the words "Uh-oh," it's already to late.

8. Brake fluid mixed with Clorox makes smoke, and lots of it.

9. A six year old can start a fire with a flint rock even though a 36 year old man says they can only do it in the movies. A magnifying glass can start a fire even on an overcast day.

10. Certain LEGOs will pass through the digestive tract of a four year old.

11. Play Dough and Microwave should never be used in the same sentence.

12. Super glue is forever.

13. No matter how much Jell-O you put in a swimming pool you still can't walk on water.

14. Pool filters do not like Jell-O.

15. VCR's do not eject PB&J sandwiches even though TV commercials show they do.

16. Garbage bags do not make good parachutes.

17. Marbles in gas tanks make lots of noise when driving.

18. You probably do not want to know what that odor is.

19. Always look in the oven before you turn it on. Plastic toys do not like ovens.

20. The fire department in Austin, TX has a 5 minute response time.

21. The spin cycle on the washing machine does not make earth worms dizzy.

22. It will however make cats dizzy.

23. Cats throw up twice their body weight when dizzy.

About my poetry:

We are all on a journey through life. Some of us get lost, some search for the truth, some have found the truth, and sometimes we all need a little "service station" along the way to continue on. These poems were written for that purpose; for those seeking to find life, for those who have it, but need a little lift, for those who have strayed and need directions back, and for those who just need a little encouragement. It is for every day living, experiences, heartaches that lead us to the realization that God is the only way, the only truth, and the only life. I pray my poems minister to your heart, and give you the energy, direction and encouragement that you need. If

you ever wished to be removed, please send me an e-mail and I will remove you, no hard feelings. :) God bless. Please visit my poetry site for other Poems for the Journey... http://www.geocities.com/poems4thejourney
