HOPE YOU ALL HAVE A WONDERFUL, BLESSED CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

This week's inspiration:

I find it interesting how in the Old Testament, God brings up dates so many times...the 12th year in the 10th month, on the third day of the month, etc. My family and I, during our Bible studies, were recently discussing why God puts these dates in, when sometimes they almost seem to serve no purpose, but everything in God's word has a reason or purpose. Yet, His birth, a new beginning, we don't know what day it took place. Why would God leave such an important date out when other not so important dates are mentioned so many times? The only reason I can think of is perhaps He doesn't want us celebrating His birth just one day of the year. We're to celebrate that blessed birth all year long...rejoicing that Jesus came down to give us freedom, to die for our sins so that we may have life. Realizing every day that His birth was so much more than just a day on a calendar. So many people flock to church, fulfilling their church duties only on Christmas and Easter. I find it interesting how there's no specific calendar date for either. His birth, death and resurrection should be something we share and find joy in all year long. Yet, the truth still stands, that amazing birth so long ago is still celebrated today, but let's not forget it's not only on Christmas day we can celebrate, but...

All Through the Year

A time of glad tidings,

a time of great joy,

when Mary gave birth

to that sweet baby Boy.

A manger and hay,

No room at the inn.

A Child was born

in Bethlehem.

The Shepherds heard angels

say, "Do not fear!"

Come let us praise Him

all through the year.

Let us come together as one.

And worship Jesus, God's only Son.

Since we don't know the day when Jesus came here,

Let's celebrate Christmas all through the year.

Let us adore Him,

This Saviour and King.

Let our worship be worthy,

Our praises ring.

By the signs of the times,

His coming is near,

so let's tell the world,

He lives through the year.

As we enter the new millennium, let us bring this world hope. Hope that even if the world ends, life can only begin with Christ. Let us ring in 2000 by making a resolution to share Christ with more people. I remember a friend asking me, "Do you think this world is going to end in the Y2K?" I said, "Even if it does, I know where I'm going." She replied, "Wait, do you know something I don't? Elisa, save me!" (The last part said sarcastically). I said, "There's only One who can save you." She said, "I know." Think about that....A lot of people are going to be scared of the coming millennium...let's take away their fears by sharing what we know, then let Jesus do the rest.

This week's featured website is of a dear friend of mine, Barbara Beers. She has been such an encouragement and blessing. I met her through Donna Davis, who did a fantastic job on Barb's website, and have been so thankful God brought us together as friends. She has touched my heart many times, and I know you will be blessed by the stories, pictures and other things Barb has to share. Please check out her website and see what a kindred spirit you will find there... Barbara's website (http://www.garlic.com/~inchrist/)

On the Lighter Side...

I have three cats, so I can relate to these! :)

Cat Etiquette

bullet

If you have to throw up, get into a chair quickly. If you cannot manage this in time, get to an Oriental rug. Shag is good.

bullet

Determine which guest hates cats. Sit on that lap during the evening. They won't dare push you off and will even call you "nice kitty." If you can arrange to have cat food on your breath, so much the better.

bullet

For sitting on laps or rubbing against trouser legs, select colors which contrast with your own.

bullet

Always accompany guests to the bathroom. It is not necessary to do anything. Just sit and stare.

bullet

For guests who say, "I love kitties," be ready with aloof disdain, claws applied to stockings or a quick nip on the ankles.

bullet

Do not allow closed doors in any room. To get one open, stand on hind legs and hammer with forepaws. Once the door is opened for you, it is not necessary to use it. You can change your mind. When you have ordered an outside door opened, stand half in and half out and think about several things. This is particularly important during very cold weather or mosquito season.

bullet

If one person is busy and the other is idle, sit with the busy one.
bullet

For book readers, get in close under the chin, unless you can lie across the book itself.

bullet

For ladies knitting, curl quietly into lap and pretend to doze. Then reach out and slap knitting needles sharply. This is what she calls a dropped stitch. She will try to distract you. Ignore it.

bullet

For people doing homework, sit on the paper being worked on. After being removed for the second time, push anything movable off the table -- pens, pencils, stamps -- one at a time.

bullet

When it becomes time to dislodge a fur ball, choose the dining room at dinner time.

bullet

When your owner returns home laden with packages, fall down in front of them-- this works best on steps, all the better if the individual is proceeding downward. There is always the chance you may get stepped on, but this usually guarantees a fall and it you milk their guilt that follows it is usually worth it.

bullet

Should you run into a closed sliding glass door or do anything stupid, never let on as much and go about your business as if "I meant to do that."

bullet

If you allow a dog to share your domain you are in luck. Should you tatter the drapes or destroy anything for which you fear retribution, wait until your owner (misnomer if there ever was one) is nearby, slap the dog and run for it. Dogs are stupid and will accept blame for anything. If this ruse should fail simply run and hide. No one really expects to catch a cat.

bullet

Chase, frolic, and run from invisible entities. The why doesn't matter, it is just expected.

bullet

Get enough sleep during the daytime so that you are fresh for playing at night between 2 and 4 a.m.

About my poetry:

We are all on a journey through life. Some of us get lost, some search for the truth, some have found the truth, and sometimes we all need a little "service station" along the way to continue on. These poems were written for that purpose; for those seeking to find life, for those who have it, but need a little lift, for those who have strayed and need directions back, and for those who just need a little encouragement. It is for every day living, experiences, heartaches that lead us to the realization that God is the only way, the only truth, and the only life. I pray my poems minister to your heart, and give you the energy, direction and encouragement that you need. If you ever wished to be removed, please send me an e-mail and I will remove you, no hard feelings. :) God bless.
