My mother handed me a list of names she had found in Psalm 18 of what God is. My brain went into motion and I thought it would make the most beautiful song. I used that list, plus other names I know God is called. See, God satisfies EVERY need and desire with all that He is. It is one thing to think of all He is, but then to read it and really grasp that He truly is all we need, really is powerful. While this small list comprises some of the things God is to us, there is even more to add. What an awesome God we serve that we can HONESTLY call Him these things. That what He claims to be is the truth. (Please pray for me as I would like to put this to music and put it on the CD I am making. Pray for the right music.) So, this Thanksgiving, let us give thanks not only for our blessings, but to God for all that He is. We never have a thing to worry about, because God is the GREAT...
My God, and my Rock, in You will I trust,
My Physician, my Healer, my King.
My Comfort, my Strength, in You I find peace,
My shepherd, the reason I sing.
You are the way, the truth and the life,
My Helper, my Joy and my Shield.
My Teacher, Provider, and you are my Friend,
To you my whole heart I will yield.
You are so Righteous, You're my Tree of Life.
In You I have wisdom and grace.
You are Almighty, the One Great I Am,
The Saviour Who once took my place.
You're the Alpha, Omega, Beginning and end,
Who was, is, and You are to come!
You're Messiah, Jehovah, You're Lord of Lords,
God the Father, Holy Ghost, and the Son.
You're the Lion of Judah, the Lamb Who was slain,
You gave up Your Kingdom for earth,
I nailed You with sins to a cruel, rugged cross,
Yet You love me for all I am worth.
You have given me life, and a reason to be,
I shall love you the rest of my days.
All of these names, I will lift them on high,
For You're more than worthy of praise!
Yes, You have given me life, and a reason to be,
You're more than worthy of praise!
All of these names, I will lift them on high,
For You are the Ancient of Days!
I don't believe I've ever feature the following person. He has encouraged me in such a tremendous way that I want to encourage him by having you visit his site. I admit I have not looked at everything on there, but I can tell you it is a great Christian site with tons of spiritual insights and links that will bless your heart and encourage your faith. Jerry Boyer is an older gentleman, wise in his years, with a strong marriage and a beautiful heart for God. I have been blessed by his sweet spirit and I know you will too. Please check out Remembering Christmas, while you're there. It will deeply touch you and make you think. So, check it out....Heart To Heart - Jerry Boyer
- Funny, but powerful...
Ten Inches of Water
A boy was sitting on a park bench with one hand resting on an open Bible. He was loudly exclaiming his praise to God.
"Hallelujah! Hallelujah! God is great!" he yelled without worrying whether anyone heard him or not. Shortly after, along came a man who had recently completed some studies at a local university. Feeling himself very
enlightened in the ways of truth and very eager to show this enlightenment, he asked the boy about the source of his joy.
"Hey," asked the boy in return with a bright laugh, "don't you have any idea what God is able to do? I just read that God opened up the waves of the Red Sea and led the whole nation of Israel right through the middle."
The enlightened man laughed lightly, sat down next to the boy and began to try to open his eyes to the 'realities' of the miracles of the Bible. "That can all be very easily explained. Modern scholarship has shown that the Red Sea in that area was only 10 inches deep at the time. It was no problem for the Israelites to wade across."
The boy was stumped. His eyes wandered from the man back to the Bible laying open in his lap. The man, content that he had enlightened a poor, naive young person to the finer points of scientific insight, turned to go. Scarcely had he taken two steps when the boy began to rejoice and praise louder than before. The man turned to ask the reason for this resumed jubilation.
"Wow!" exclaimed the boy happily, "God is greater than I thought! Not only did He lead the whole nation of Israel through the Red Sea, He topped it off by drowning the whole Egyptian army in 10 inches of water!"
About my poetry:
We are all on a journey through life. Some of us get lost, some search for the truth, some have found the truth, and sometimes we all need a little "service station" along the way to continue on. These poems were written for that purpose; for those seeking to find life, for those who have it, but need a little lift, for those who have strayed and need directions back, and for those who just need a little encouragement. It is for every day living, experiences, heartaches that lead us to the realization that God is the only way, the only truth, and the only life. I pray my poems minister to your heart, and give you the energy, direction and encouragement that you need. If you ever wished to be removed, please send me an e-mail and I will remove you, no hard feelings. :) God bless.
