This weeks inspiration:

I was thinking about the silence of Jesus as accusations and lies were thrown at Him, yet He did not speak a word or defend Himself. Pilate marveled at it, and so do I. But, see, Jesus knew the crowds hearts and probably nothing would sway them, but He also knew He had to die and fulfill His Father's will. So, He had to be silent and go through the torment in order to be beaten, tortured and then nailed to a cross because of His love for us and because He knew it had to be done because of our sin. I'm sitting here just not even able to describe in words how awesome the love of God is that He would go through that for someone like me. It's truly indescribable.

I also think of how Mark Lowry speaks of the silence of Mary, His mother, and how she watched all this and didn't say a word. As he said, she knew He was virgin born, the Son of God, and that this must be done. Then I began to think of the silence of all of His friends. Did not one dare to speak up for this Man they called a friend? This Man who had healed the lame, made the blind to see, performed miracles, fed thousands, and walked and talked with them, encouraging their faith and hope. No, they all remained silent and even one denied Him. But all of this had to be done in order for Jesus to die for us. I also think of Mark's story how they watched, as little children, the movie Jesus, and when Mark screamed "NO!" When they yelled "Crucify!" And his brother speaking up, "Mark, shut up or we'll all go to hell!" it makes sense...this was all part of the plan of Christ, and it truly is the greatest story ever told. All this came together in a poem I wrote called…

"Silence"

Elisa Sangiorgio

Lies and accusations, were thrown at Him that day,

Pilate asked, "Do you not hear?," but not a word did Jesus say.

Pilate marveled greatly, at this Man they wanted dead,

"Release to us Barabus, crucify Jesus instead!"

His silence had spoken volumes, then Pilate washed his hands, "I am innocent of the blood of this just man."

The silence then of Mary, as her Son was beaten down,

Through the mocking and the torture, she dare not make a sound.

This Man, so full of innocence, the Child she used to hold. See, He came to save this world from sin, as the prophecy's foretold.

So she stood back and watched it all, and how she must have cried. To see the Son of God accused, and then to watch Him die.

With all that He had done, yet no one would justify,

And save this Man from torment, no they yelled, "Crucify!"

As Jesus took on all our sins, His Father turned away,

"My God, why have You forsaken me," then His life ebbed away.

They wrapped His shredded body, and sealed Him in a tomb,

And I believe, as they went home, their hearts were filled with gloom.

Perhaps they could have saved Him, this Man they called a friend, But what they didn't realize, it was Christ who would save them.

Those next three days of quietness must have filled them all with dread, But what they did not know was Jesus was no longer dead.

The silence then was broken, an angel rolled the stone away, "Do not be afraid, come see the place where Jesus lay."

"The man that you are seeking, the One they crucified,

I tell you He's no longer here, no Jesus is alive!!!"

They ran to tell their friends, then heard a familiar voice,

No more would they be silent, for Jesus said, "Rejoice!"

"I'm alive! Here I am, you can touch my nail scarred hands,

I'm alive, and You're forgiven, I fulfilled my Father's plan.

I say again, let us rejoice, let us now be silent no more,

Tell the world I came to save them, and I'm alive forevermore!"

ON THE LIGHTER SIDE -

Old man Murray goes to the doctor with a very worried look on his face.

"Doctor," he says, "You've got to help me. Do you remember those voices in my

head that I always complain about?"

"Yes," the doctor replies.

"Well they've suddenly gone away," Murray says.

"So what's the problem?"

"I think I'm going deaf."

About my poetry:

We are all on a journey through life. Some of us get lost, some search for the truth, some have found the truth, and sometimes we all need a little "service station" along the way to continue on. These poems were written for that purpose; for those seeking to find life, for those who have it, but need a little lift, for those who have strayed and need directions back, and for those who just need a little encouragement. It is for every day living, experiences, heartaches that lead us to the realization that God is the only way, the only truth, and the only life. I pray my poems minister to your heart, and give you the energy, direction and encouragement that you need. If you ever wished to be removed, please send me an e-mail and I will remove you, no hard feelings. :) God bless.
