This time of year is a very hard time for me for two
reasons. One, my aunt passed away on October 31, 1997 from cancer, and two, I hate Halloween. It's a candy coated holiday that many people think of as harmless. If we really knew the true meaning behind it and what goes on this time of year, not many would be having fun. There's just something very dark and creepy on Halloween. I think I'm going to let my poem speak for itself. I wrote this poem last year, and recently found it among my files. I find it very appropriate and I hope it speaks to many of you. Is Halloween a....
Dressing up for Halloween?
What does all this trickery mean,
A ghosts, a goblin, a witch or two,
Bats, monsters, black cats too,
Evil costumes, distorted faces,
Innocent children going places,
To and fro, from home to home,
It seems like fun as off they roam.
Some say it's just an innocent day,
Where children can go off and play,
Pretending to be somebody new,
Cinderella, maybe Winnie the Pooh?
Or dress up as someone decaying or dead,
Someone with a severed head,
Putting on costumes that look so gory,
Why should evil get this much glory?
All in innocence, that's the plan,
Satan has once again deceived man.
It's almost like how we live our lives,
Living behind a mask of lies.
We put on our smile, hiding the pain,
Our "treats" the only thing we can "gain".
We go down the road, door to door,
Looking for truth, hoping for more.
We hold out our bags, say, "Trick or treat!"
But behind the door, who do we meet?
The master and king of all deceivers,
Handing out tricks to Christian believers.
Candy coated lies that yeild anger, frustration,
Sending us to the wrong destination.
So, he makes Halloween, for children, sweet,
Just get dressed up, say, "Trick or treat!"
But just be careful who's behind the door.
It may not be the treat you're looking for.
While I haven't checked this entire site out, what I've read so far is hysterical!!

We are all on a journey through life. Some of us get lost, some search for the truth, some have found the truth, and sometimes we all need a little "service station" along the way to continue on. These poems were written for that purpose; for those seeking to find life, for those who have it, but need a little lift, for those who have strayed and need directions back, and for those who just need a little encouragement. It is for every day living, experiences, heartaches that lead us to the realization that God is the only way, the only truth, and the only life. I pray my poems minister to your heart, and give you the energy, direction and encouragement that you need. If you ever wished to be removed, please send me an e-mail and I will remove you, no hard feelings. :) God bless.
